Chris grew up in St. Nazianz, Wisconsin and attended the Valders School District until departing for the US Army 12 days after graduating High School. He spent 4 years in the regular Army training and working as a Russian Language Interrogator before returning to Wisconsin in 1990.
Chris earned his BA in International Relations/Slavic Studies and International Business at UW Madison while serving in the US Army Reserves. Upon graduation Chris worked for the WI Department of Agriculture, International Agri-Business Center helping Wisconsin Agri-Businesses export products around the world. From 1998 to 2019 Chris worked at Red Arrow International and for the past 11 years was the Managing Director in charge of business development and management of 17 people based here in Wisconsin and in 5 countries across the globe.
In late November 2018, Chris accepted his father’s offer to join the family business at Dennis Gutman Agency and officially resigned from Red Arrow. Three months later he left Red Arrow after completing a reorganization of the international division.
After traveling well over 3 million miles to more than 45 countries, Chris decided that for both his family and himself this opportunity was incredible and exciting. “ I am so excited to be able to use my extensive business management, sales and marketing experience to grow an already incredibly successful business and help local business with their risk management and asset protection needs. It is important for all of us here at Gutman Insurance to provide long-term, high-quality, excellent service and advice to our friends in the community. In joining the agency, my goal is to grow our business ethically, engage positively in the community and assure my dad’s client base that we are here for the long term as a local, family-owned independent agency”.
Chris is a member of Rotary International-Manitowoc, Ducks Unlimited, Dobro Slovo National Honor Society and serves on the Board of Goalgetters United Soccer in Manitowoc.
