Dennis is the founder and former President/Owner of Gutman Insurance in Manitowoc.
Dennis is a Manitowoc County native, calling Manitowoc and the surrounding area home for most of his life. After graduating high school, he left the area to study at UW-LaCrosse, and later Southern Illinois – Carbondale. He then left school to serve in Vietnam as a combat soldier. When he returned, he attended Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, where he earned his degree in social studies.
He started his career as an insurance agent in 1973 when he opened an American Family Insurance office in Manitowoc. In 2006 he became an independent insurance agent, representing several highly-rated insurance companies.
When not at work Dennis is very active in the community. He is a member of the St. Nazianz Lions Club, the Viking Bow & Gun Club, the Manitowoc Gun Club, the American Legion, and the AMVETS. He is also very active in Manitowoc County Youth Sports, helping out kids since the early ’70s. He currently serves as President.
When Dennis has time for himself, you will likely find him either hunting or fishing. Dennis is an avid big-game hunter and fisherman. His hunting and fishing have taken him to Africa, Hawaii, and Mexico. He is also a private VFR pilot, flying around eastern Wisconsin in his Piper Archer.
Dennis lives with his wife Judy in St. Nazianz. They have two grown children, Chris Gutman, and Stephanie Berge. They love to travel, spending a few weeks in Mexico each winter.
